The Ups and Downs of Summer 2012

I don't think I've ever experienced such awesome highs or devastating lows in one summer...it's truly been one to remember.

Our summer started out with the girls' birthday party. We had a great time at the park and Crown Center. On June 24th, we celebrated the girls' baby dedication at our church. It was a time to ask God to watch over our little ladies, and was very special service for us.

A few weeks later, on July 3rd, we had another first for the little ladies...the first trip to the movie theater! The local theater has free kids' movies in the summer, so we braved a trip there (of course, I wouldn't have gone without the help of one of my mommy friends!). "Kung Fu Panda 2" was a success! We will definitely go to the movies more next summer.

As great as July started out, it took a terrible turn the next week. On July 11, my Mom lost her battle with Pancreatic Cancer. To say that her loss was devastating is a huge understatement. I miss my mom every day. When you ask the girls where Nana went, they will tell you that she is in Heaven, with Jesus. It makes me smile that she is watching over them (and the rest of us). I wish that she was still here, but I hope that I can make her proud of the mother, wife, daughter, and person that  I am trying to become.

We ended July with the decision that it was time to buy our first home. From beginning to end, the entire process probably took a couple of months. We ended up putting an offer on one home that fell through before we found our house. The girls love it. It’s full of stairs and lots of places for them to play. When we leave they say, “By house, I love you.” It’s pretty adorable. We just moved in about a week ago, and we’re really loving the new place!

In September we headed to the Greatest Show on Earth....well, the circus anyway. The girls' favorite part by far was the elephants. They loved them, and were talking about them for DAYS!

Now it's Fall. I'm looking forward to the cool weather, pumpkin patches, and spending time time with my family.

  1. I am so excited to see your new house. It looks beautiful! I know your mom is with you in spirit in every decision you make and I can guarantee that she is very proud of the person you are and will continue to be. Many blessings in your new home!
