To say that
potty training has been a nightmare is probably an understatement. We initially
started potty training when the girls were almost 2.5 years old (we didn’t
really try before because of your move, which is stressful enough). We had some
success, especially with Lily, but nothing really consistent. Finally, we knew
it was time to bite the bullet when the girls turned 3.
We
officially joined Potty Training Hell on the Fourth of July, which was a long
weekend. The next four days were full of tears, pee on the floor, and spending
(literally) hours in the bathroom. We had some success, but a lot of messes
(which turned out to be worse than I thought. Whoever says their kids are
instantly potty-trained lied). The following Monday, Lily had a huge accident.
Since then, she’s been great. I think that accident really upset her, and she
hates to be dirty. She doesn’t wear a
Pull-Up or diaper during the day anymore, only when she’s sleeping (and that’s
usually dry).
Madison, on
the other hand, has been a handful. It is just another example of how different
they are. Madi refused to sit on the toilet for months. She has been going off
and on since the Fourth of July, but we’ve certainly had our share of major accidents
(gross…). She seems to have the potty part down (although she still doesn’t like
to go most of the time, this kid is seriously doesn't care about bribes), but #2 is still a work in progress. Hopefully we can continue to make
more progress as she and Lily start preschool.
Overall, I
think we’ve made it through the worst of it. Potty-training has been one of the
hardest parts of parenting twins so far. It is hard to try something new like
this with two kids…trial and error seems to be the name of our game! ;-)
Below are some pics from the Fourth of July!

| I had to add this pic...it was on the way home from a pool party. They're just too cute! |

I'm glad to hear that there's some success in there with all of the accidents. You're almost there. The end is near! :)
